Heartfelt Photo Reveals What Cable Guy Did Once He ‘Walked Into a Mess’

There’s no doubt about it that being a parent is hard work. In fact, we now know that moms work the equivalent of 2.5 full time jobs, and they’re sleep-deprived for up to 6 years after their kids are born. Yeah, hard work and exhaustion. That explains a lot.

Jessica Nash Donnahoo knows what it’s like to have a crazy hectic day. As a mom with two little kids, she has to balance taking care of them with taking care of her home, basically the whole 2.5 full time jobs while being sleep deprived craziness that is parenthood.

To make matters more complicated, her 3-year-old son, Sailor, is blind and was born with rare birth defects. Not only does she have to cater to his needs, but she also has a 2-year-old daughter. That’s a lot right there.

On March 16, 2019, Jessica was at home with her kids waiting for the cable guy to show up. You know how it is when you get a window of time that a cable worker will arrive. Sometimes it feels like you’re waiting all day. Sometimes the worker who shows up isn’t very personable either. Jessica was having a hectic day, but thankfully, the cable worker who arrived at her door showed compassion.

We could tell you about the post Jessica wrote on Facebook describing the experience, but we think she says it best. She wrote,

Dear Spectrum Internet,

Today your technician Robert came to our home to upgrade our internet and help us start up TV streaming. He walked into a mess. My son, Sailor, is three years old. He was born with two rare brain defects and he is blind. He is unable to communicate his needs, and today has been rough for him. He has been crying all morning. I’ve been trying to soothe him while also meeting the needs of my two year old daughter, cleaning, washing dishes, and doing laundry while my husband works. It’s just been a tough day. When Robert walked in and started talking, Sailor ran to him and reached up. Robert didn’t seem bothered at all and, instead, held my son off and on for the whole 45 minutes he was in our home. He snuggled him close while I folded laundry. It was a huge relief to this tired momma. Robert could have walked in, rushed, and left but instead he saw a need greater than internet and met it. That’s beyond customer service- it’s humanity at its best. Robert deserves a raise… a promotion… something! He’s an asset to your company and I will never forget his kindness.

Sincerely,

Jessica

Robert Kinney, the Spectrum technician, told Good Morning America that he’s a single dad to a 4-year-old. That’s probably part of the reason he was so good with Sailor. He said, “I picked him up and held him while I was doing a few things inside. He was super comfortable with it to the point he started getting sleepy.”

Have you ever experienced a random act of kindness like this?
