Mailman Stops After Seeing Dog Strapped To Tree, Once Her Looks At Her Face Knows He Has To Act FAST

When you see a "beware of dog" sign posted on a property, it can sometimes make people nervous, especially mail carriers and delivery people. Coming across an seemingly angry grumpy, snarling dog while trying to drop off the mail or a package is a big on-the-job hazard for them.
Mail carrier Dan Targonsk loves his job, but one day, his patience for other people's pooches ran out. While he was making his rounds, he stumbled across a Boxer tied up to a tree, possibly too out of control to be allowed in his home or even in his yard.

But after a quick once-over, Dan realized this Boxer wasn't a threat or a menace. It could barely stand up and appeared to have been abused.
The poor dog was severely malnourished -- its ribs were clearly showing and it had lost all its spark. The dog was very dirty, sitting there in the blistering hot sun without food or water.

Instead of sidestepping the dog and continuing along his route, Dan just had to stop and help. He grabbed some water for the poor thirsty dog, then made an important phone call.
He reached out to Adopt a Boxer Rescue to report the dog and her plight. He notified his boss that he would be sitting right by that dog's side, supporting her and lavishing attention on her until the rescue workers could arrive.
After the dog, who was later named Kuperus, was scooped up and taken off to the rescue for some much needed medical attention and grooming, Dan learned her predicament was much worse than it appeared. She had sustained a serious injury resulting in a large wound on her head that had been caused either by a bullet or a knife.
Kuperus also had been punched in the face or hit with a hard object, because her jaw was broken and several of her teeth had to be removed. Despite the torture this poor dog had endured, she revealed how sweet and loving she could be while in the hands of her new caregivers at the rescue.

Dawn Karam, founder of Adopt a Boxer Rescue, told Newsner that Kuperus blossomed under the volunteers' tender touch. She became a new dog instantly.
"It boggles my mind how she craves attention. She really wants nothing more than to be touched. even after some terrible human beat her and left her to die. Simply amazing."
Thank goodness there are wonderful, kind and compassionate people like Dan in this world who would stop to help an innocent, abused creature in desperate need of help. He even visited her regularly while she was on the mend.
And not surprising, everyone fell in love with Kuperus the minute they met her, but it turned out that her very own surgeon Dr. Jennings had felt a special draw to the dog. After she was ready for adoption, she went home with him -- how awesome is that!?
