Man Unsure Of Homeless Man, Sees His Van & Is Surprised By Sight Inside
By Dreamer

The homeless are many times look at as the forgotten group that is just waiting to be found, helped and recovered. And even though this situation comes before our eyes each and everyday, the homeless population still seems to not be cared for the way it should be.
In some sad situations, people don't like to make eye contact with homeless people, almost as acknowledging them is bothersome. This was not the case for a man named Ian Groudy however, he spotted a homeless man hanging around his truck, he couldn't ignore what he saw.
Ian keeps his truck in a parking lot near his home in Boca Raton, Florida, and that's where he first took notice of a homeless guy that was living in a minivan. Ian thought there was something off about the man and quickly uncovered the truth about him.
Ian's initial reaction was fairly typical - he thought that his stuff was going to get stolen. It wasn't until he peeked inside the stranger's van that Ian's prejudices about the homeless was forever shattered.
In a Facebook post, Ian explained what happened when he finally approached the guy:
"Always used to think he might steal something out of the bed but months went by and nothing was ever stolen. Fast forward to 2 days ago, I walk up to this dudes car at 11 at night to give him a few bucks for food, and there he is sitting in there studying multiple mechanic handbooks line by line trying to better himself as an automotive technician."
Ian later learned that the man's name is Loncelot, and what really stood out about him was his amazing work ethic.
Instead of holding up a sign on a street corner, Loncelot was holding up a book and reading into the wee hours of the night. Ian's response to what he was saw was instant - he hired the guy to service his truck!
"This guy could be begging on any street of day and here he is sleeping in his car Bettering every aspect of himself in the hopes that he will find work as an auto mechanic. So the first thing I did was hire him to change my trucks oil."

Ian's kindness didn't stop there. He helped Loncelot upgrade the handmade business cards that were printed at the public library.
"Loncelot handed me his card that he made at the public library out of paper and the certifications he has Earned, despite being homeless. The card definitely could've used some improvements so I've made him 500 new biz cards to get him up and running. Please call Loncelot Edwards if you need any mobile mechanic work in the south Florida..."
Ian finished his heartwarming story by quoting a famous proverb, which was very fitting given the situation:
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime."

In our hearts we know that a person shouldn't be defined by where they sleep at night, but society does it all the time when it comes to the homeless.
Although addictions and mental illness are certainly conditions to be wary of, if we only stopped long enough to ask them, "what's your story" we might come to learn that our fears about the homeless are often based on nothing at all.
