Are You Suffering From Abdominal Pain Constantly? Here's 6 Home Remedies That Will Help

Having a stomach ache doesn't only have to accompany the flu. There are many reasons such as PMS, becoming pregnant and a touchy system can cause an upset stomach. Discovering that relief is in your kitchen means you don't have to rush to the store when you don't feel the best.

Here are 6 home remedies for fighting an upset stomach. You may find you want to keep these ingredients on hand in your home. You never know when they may come in handy.

1. Bitters and soda. When battling nausea, Healthline recommends trying bitters and soda. Bitters is a combination of cinnamon, fennel, mint and ginger. Add about 5 to 6 drops of bitters to club soda, tonic or ginger ale to see if you get relief.

2. Bananas. If you're suffering from either constipation or diarrhea, Bel Marra Health recommends eating bananas.

3. BRAT. An acronym for bananas, rice, applesauce and toast, Healthlinesays to try this out if you're suffering from nausea or diarrhea.

4. Rice tea. A rather novel idea, Reader's Digest recommends "rice tea" for diarrhea or an upset stomach. Boil 1/2 cup rice in 6 cups of water for 15 minutes. Strain the rice and add some honey to sweeten it.

5. Ginger and peppermint tea. Medical News Today recommends ginger and peppermint tea for nausea. Genius Kitchen combines the two to make the tea. Place 1/2 teaspoon of fresh ginger and 1/2 cup crushed peppermint leaves in 1 cup of water. Boil for 5 minutes and steep for 10 minutes. Strain the ginger and peppermint out and drink.

6. Toast. If your stomach is upset and looking for something easy to digest, Bel Marra Health recommends toast. Charcoal is also supposed to help with nausea, so if you let the toast get a little burnt, you can get the added benefit of charcoal.

Settling an upset stomach doesn't have to be super expensive or complicated. Sometimes it's as simple as a cup of tea and a piece of toast.
