Don’t buy non-organic lemons, because those seeds are not germinating, in that case you’ll need an organic one. Fertile potting soil, the one that has vermiculite, peat, perlite and natural fertilizers. Get a pot in which you will plant it, it is recommended a pot that is 6 inches deep, and 6 inches in diameter. And for later you’ll need a pot that is 12 inches deep and 24 inches in diameter. You need a location in your home, that is sunny all the time, or simply get yourself a grow lamp.

Here are the steps to growing a lemon tree at home:

Make sure the potting soil is damp and moist, but don’t soak the whole soil. Fill the small pot with soil, fill it 1 inch below the top rim. Cut the lemon in pieces and take only 1 seed. Simply suck the lemon or pulp its surface. Don’t delay the plant process. When you want to bury the seed into the soil it must be moist. Once you have the seed plant it 1/2 an inch deep in the middle of your pot. Use water in a spray bottle, and spray right above the seed a couple of times. Cover the pot with a plastic wrap, and use a rubber band to seal the edges, then poke a few holes on the plastic wrap with a needle. Put the pat in a warm and sunny place of your house. The soil should not be left dry, therefore spray some water often, or use water it will splash through the holes. The soil should be moist a little all the time. Take the plastic wrap off, once the sprout starts to emerge, it will happen after around 2 weeks. Use a grow light if you need more sunlight, the lemon tree needs a lot of heat from the sun. Since the soil requires to be damp, it needs to be at least 8 hours a day under sunlight, and dose it properly with organic fertilizer on daily basis. Make sure that your plant is not under attack from insects or disease, take good care of it. Take of the brown and dead leaves from it, that will protect the tree. Once the baby lemon plant is big for the small pot, transfer it to the larger pot. Do the same procedure as for the planting in the small pot. It will also require proper watering, but not as much as the baby tree. Don’t starve it, water it often.
