El Paso Police Department Officer José Flores knows that anything can happen to him in the line of duty. Most of his calls are monotonous and don’t really get his blood pumping, but this call was much different.
The brave police officer received a call that there was a homeless man who was refusing to leave a Lowe’s Home Improvement building, and knowing this could get ugly fast, Officer Flores mentally prepared himself for the worst….
But when Officer Flores arrived, he saw something much different than what he was expecting. Instead of trying to usher the man out, the employees had gathered money for him and found an available shelter for him to stay!
Their kind reaction to the man’s seemingly insurmountable problems prompted the officer to step in as well.
When Officer Flores was introduced to the homeless man, he noticed how underdressed he was despite the winter weather. Not only was his jacket old and raggedy, but he didn’t even shoes on his feet!
So, instead of transporting the man directly to a shelter, Officer Flores drove him to a nearby department store and bought him new rain boots, socks and gloves! Doing something selfless for the man got his adrenaline pumping in a much different way than it normal!
Thanks to the kindness of Officer Flores and the employees at Lowe’s, the homeless man can stay warm on the days he’s not living at the shelter.
