Have A Keurig? Here's Why You Should Consider Getting Rid Of It ASAP
By Timfly

Keurig is a popular beverage brewing system for home and commercial use. Many love the ease of the machine, one button and your coffee is brewed. Since you see them practically everywhere nowadays many just assume they are completely safe, but new questions loom, however, about just how safe and healthy these machines and the coffee pods that come with them really are.
A microbiologist from Healthy Holistic Living researched several concerns regarding K-cups and Keurig machines.
The results were not good. As it turns out, Keurigs are not able to be drained and dried entirely after use, which calls into question just how clean and sanitary the machines are.
"Once your Keurig home brewer has been primed, you cannot empty the water from the inside. The internal tank of the brewer cannot be drained," the company's website states.

Mold and bacteria are easily able to form in places where water has been sitting for long periods of time.
"Bacteria forms a slick biofilm when grown in moist, dark places, and so do molds," Donna Duberg, assistant professor of clinical laboratory science at Saint Louis University told Healthy Holistic Living.
Your coffee bean’s antibacterial action is not enough to kill these microbes that are floating through the system. Duberg said, “There is research which shows that it is only about 50 percent effective in killing bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus mutans, and molds.”
Your water is not getting hot enough to kill all microbes that are living in your coffee system. The Plastic – The K Cup is a composite plastic, #7. The chemicals from the composite plastic are not safe and they still have estrogenic activity.
Any coffee maker should be cleaned every time empty, or at least once a day. Run vinegar thru it every 2-3 days, then clear water. If you just can't part with your Keurig, then check out this video on the best way to keep it clean.
