Teen Wins $70,000 Car, Here’s What She Did To It A Minute Later
By Dreamer

At some point in all of our lives, we have attempted to win something of great value, but failed. Along with the disappointment comes a small hint of jealousy for whomever won the prize, knowing that the winner would get to enjoy what you had hoped to own. One teen in New York recently won a $70,000 car, but it’s what she did to it a minute after winning that has people talking.

Thirteen-year-old Erin Byrnes recently entered a charity raffle to win a $70,000 car in Syracuse, New York – and won. Surprisingly, it only took Erin less than 60 seconds to give away her new fully-loaded, brand-new Chevrolet Tahoe to Joseph’s House for Women. According to Opposing Views, Joseph’s House for Women is a nonprofit organization aimed at providing a nurturing home for women facing unplanned pregnancies.

The selfless teenager, who is a part of a family of eight, had entered the charity event hoping that she won the vehicle to donate. Erin collected cans and bottles until she had raised $200 do buy 60 raffle tickets to enter in the drawing. Although the raffle only allowed entries by individuals over the age of 18, Erin wrote only her last name on the back after her parents supported her plan to donate the vehicle if she won. Her chances of winning were extremely low, considering that she only held 60 tickets of 26,000 sold.
“We never dreamed in a million years that Erin would win,” Jeanie Byrnes, the teen’s mother, explained, according to Syracuse’s website.
The raffle had been held during a charity gala that was intended to benefit Joseph’s House, but I don’t think they could have ever imagined how much the gala really would benefit the organization. Kitty Spinelli, one of the women who runs the organization, said they’re still deciding how to make the most of the gift, according to Opposing Views.

Although Erin just gave the organization an extremely generous gift, she is currently working on her next project to raise money to by Christmas presents for the moms at Joseph’s House. “She wants to get something for the moms that they want, not just need,” Jeanie explained.
There aren’t too many teenagers who would take the time out of their day to worry about strangers, much less wanting to donate a $70,000 car. Faith in the next generation can be restored, knowing that there still are honest, selfless kids who just want the best for others. Perhaps we all can learn a lesson from this young girl and selflessly desire to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
