Teen’s Casket Gets Covered In Unique Markings, Leaves Family Speechless

Unfortunately, death is a part of life. At some point, we all will have to say goodbye to someone we love. When a teen from Burlington, Canada lost her battle to cancer, her friends took it upon themselves to alter her beautiful casket, but after taking a closer look the markings will leave you speechless.

Eighteen-year-old Laura Hillier had been suffering from acute myeloid leukemia for several years. Sadly, the young woman lost her battle in January before ever getting the opportunity to graduate high school and to receive her “senior yearbook.” However, her classmates weren’t about to let cancer ruin her dreams and decided to do something about it.
At Laura’s funeral, all of her friends worked together to give her a yearbook-style send-off. Instead of walking up and simply saying their goodbyes, they wrote messages on her casket, identical to the ones she would’ve been given in her yearbook.

Laura had spent many years waiting to receive a stem cell transplant as a cancer treatment. In July, her prayers came true. Laura was informed that there were multiple donors found, but she would have to be placed on a waiting list, considering there was a hospital bed shortage in Canada.
She spent her time waiting by fighting off her cancer with chemotherapy before finally receiving a hospital bed in August and the long-awaited transplant. Sadly, her cancer was persistent and returned in November, according to News 965. She was set to go to California’s City of Hope hospital on January 18, but due to medical complications, it was postponed and she passed away a few days later. “Donations to Coast to Coast, a charity devoted to fighting childhood cancer can be made in Laura’s name,” according to Mashable.
The touching yearbook-style tribute to Laura has to be one of the most remarkable memorials to ever occur. There is no doubt she blessed many lives and will be greatly missed. Cancer has taken the lives of too many people, and it’s about time we discover a cure. The suffering needs to end, and cancer needs to be eliminated.
