Man Peeks Over Cliff, Acts Fast When He Sees What’s Dangling Off The Edge

When one man was on a walk with his wife, he didn’t know that his afternoon would take an unexpected turn. As the man took a peek over a cliff ledge, he was forced to act fast when he realized that something was dangling off the edge.

Derek Shaw and his wife Ann were taking a stroll along a clifftop in England, when beach-goers below started yelling up towards their direction. After a moment, he and his wife noticed that something was stuck a few feet below the ledge. He immediately rushed over and realized that it was a black and white border collie that had accidentally fallen off the edge of the cliff and was stuck a few feet below on a small ledge, terrified for its life.

“I love dogs,” Derek explained, according to The Sun. “I didn’t want to leave it there, it was scared stiff.”
As any of us would probably do, Derek laid down, dangling his own body off the 320 foot cliff face, while a nearby tourist, Beverley Sallis held on to his legs to keep him from going over. As Derek reached for the dog, the pup stood up and allowed Derek to reach his collar and pull him back to safety. There is no doubt that the dog was relieved to be rescued from the dangerous and small platform.
Once authorities were contacted, it didn’t take long to find the owner of the missing dog — Bobby Baker and his girlfriend Laurel Bowes. It was then determined that the dog’s name was Millie and that she ran from her owner after getting scared off by a German Shepherd, approximately 21 hours earlier.
“It was really nice reuniting them both,” explained Derek, according to Daily Mail. “The dog knew straight away and got really excited.”
Bobby Baker and his girlfriend, Laurel Bowes are reunited with Millie.
Bobby and Laurel are overjoyed having Millie back at home. “I just started crying when she came back,” Laurel said. “Her face when she saw me was just so lovely. I offered Derek money but he wouldn’t take it, and we can’t thank everyone enough for the support in finding her.”
People in our world have gotten so caught up with their own lives, they have forgotten what being a good person is all about. Sometimes that means you have to be generous to those less fortunate than you, while other times it means stepping in to help someone or something that can’t help itself, like a dog. Luckily, there were a few good people walking by that cliff that day and Millie was able to be rescued before something terrible happened. After all, there aren’t too many people who would be willing to risk their lives for a dog.
