Stranger Posted Photo And Mocked Man For Being Poor. Weeks Later A Package Arrives [photos]

People are cruel. There is no getting around the fact that some people will take any opportunity to make others feel bad about themselves. This usually means that the bullies have issues of their own, and it starts a ripple effect of emitting cruelty on others. But while some folks are spreading there cruelty onto others, there are other people who are watching closely and spreading their kindness at the same time.
When a Bangladeshi cleaner was seen looking into a jeweler’s window, he was ridiculed and made fun off on social media. Someone had taken the opportunity to snap a photo of the man as he was in the midst of admiring the jewels, and it soon went viral on social media. The caption that accompanied the Instagram photo was: “This man deserves to only look at rubbish.”

When Abdullah Al-Qahtani discovered the mockery, he made it his mission to find the man who was being made fun of. Al-Qahtani has a Twitter account that is geared toward “humanitarianism,” and he wanted to help out the 65-year-old cleaner, named Nazer al-Islam Abdul Karim.
Al-Qahtani sent out a tweet of the photo, stating that he was on a hunt for the man and the powers of social media pulled through, as the tweet was shared 6,500 times. They ultimately found the cleaner because users were able to figure out the cleaner’s location based on the reflection of the shop window in the photo.
Karim had actually been unaware that there was even a photo taken of him, stating that he didn’t even realize that there was a photo passing through social media. Unbeknownst to Karim, Al-Qahtani had already started gathering money and supplies to give to the cleaner who survived on a salary of $187 a month. When Karim was located, he was showered with gifts including: rice, honey, an iPhone and even gold jewelry. “I was just doing my job as a cleaner in the municipality and found myself in front of the gold shop. I am very happy about the gifts and very thankful,” said Karim. The Saudi sports channel posted videos of Karim choosing a gold set from the shop, along with several photos of the cleaner with his new gifts.

This just goes to show you that you never know who is watching you and now hopefully the bullies that started the chain of events have learned a valuable lesson. The lesson that everybody deserves equal treatment regardless of their income and their social status.
Al-Qahtani was very grateful for the outpouring of kindness that he received when he made the initial post. He was also very impressed with the help that he received in tracking the man down. So, for all those bullies out there…there are also kind people who make a difference in the world. It would be interesting to hear from the cruel person who posted the initial photo. We can bet that he feels like quite a fool for his horrible actions. Clearly he doesn’t have all that much going for him, if he has the time to post an image of a complete stranger.
