Warning: This Popular Doll Might Be Spying On Your Children
By Timfly

It wasn’t until thousands of a particularly popular toy were sold to little girls across America that a few parents happened to notice something strange about the doll. Upon further investigation, a disturbing hidden detail was found inside, but it was already too late.

One of the most popular Christmas toys of the holiday season may be spying on your children.
According to Kron4, at least three consumer advocate groups claim the My Friend Cayla doll has been spying on kids.
“Parents are buying this doll without any clue their children are essentially being spied on,” said Josh Golin, executive director of the Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood.
These groups believe the doll, which connects to the Internet, is being used by a third party that collects various data.
According to the groups, children talk to the doll, which then goes through an app or smart device.
From there, the data is sent to Nuance Communications where it is stored in a cloud. The groups say this is being used as an advantage for marketers.
“For instance, Cayla talks a lot about Disney products and going to Disneyland, so there’s a real possibility for product placement to occur within the doll itself,” Golin said.
There are reportedly no security measures on the doll, so anybody with a Bluetooth connection could easily hack it.
“Obviously, the idea of a stranger being able to talk to your child while they’re in their bedroom playing with their doll is beyond creepy,” Golin said.
The complaint also names the I-Que Intelligent Robot, also made by Genesis Toys, as another worrisome toy for children.
Although Genesis has not spoken out about the allegations, Nuance Communications says they take their data privacy very seriously.
