Here’s What A Mall Set Up As Their Christmas Display To Avoid Offending Non-Christians…

A Long Island mall recently decided to mix up their Christmas decor, opting for a futuristic-looking “glacier” design rather than the more Christian-based decorations in the past. While the move was intended to be more “politically-correct,” it ended up doing the exact opposite.
Customers began complaining the minute they saw this bizarre glacier in place of the Roosevelt Field Mall’s traditional decorations. People didn’t just dislike the display, they openly mocked it and even threatened a boycott if it wasn’t removed.
“Santa comes along with a decorated tree; he doesn’t come with a spaceship,” disappointed parent Maria Lovdahl told NY Daily News.
Another mall regular claims to have spoken to management about the design decision, only being told that management was, “simplifying the display in order not to offend anyone.”
That may have worked, except pretty much every one of the thousands of people that walked through the mall doors that day probably were pretty unhappy with the display anyway. So even in these days of clean, minimalist design it’s nice to know that some people still appreciate all the tradition and beauty that comes along with a Christian Christmas celebration.
One Twitter user made a key observation, writing, “When companies offend the many to appease the few, the many will stop coming.”
That’s exactly what happened, for a little while at least. Now the mall has reportedly bent under the pressure and completely wiped away every part of their futuristic glacier and replaced it with Christmas trees, holly leaves and the requisite mistletoe.
