Walmart is one of the largest retailers in the world with around 2.3 million employees, 1.5 million in the United States alone. The company boasts an astonishing half-a-trillion dollars in annual revenue, but even giants can fall. Within the coming months the global retail mega giant will be closing 269 stores with 159 of those in the United States. What does this mean for you? A lot of things, but there are two very important ones you’ll want to take note of.

The first impact this is going to have is on the local communities in which these stores are closing. That’s thousands of people out of work with hardly any other prospects to speak of. Our local communities are suffering immensely, but with the closure of Walmart it’s about to get worse. Competition is about to get stiffer for even the most basic of jobs, which begs the question – what’s next? The company does intend to open more than 300 stores in the coming year, but what about the communities it abandoned?

The second thing you want to note is with all these stores going out of business there’s going to be some 20%-50% off sales to take advantage of! Obviously this isn’t too much of a bright side here, but when you’re handed a pile of garbage you’ve got to find something good about it…
