When little Zayde came home from his preschool class and sat down to color, his mother noticed her lefty was using his right hand to write. The strange new behavior was very odd to the mom, especially since her young son seemed terrified by the hand he has always favored. Then she asked him about it, and his response rightfully sent her into a fit of rage.

Alisha Sands couldn’t understand what the sudden change was about. She sent her 4-year-old to Oakes Elementary in Okemah, Oklahoma that day as a left-handed little boy, but when he returned from school, he wanted nothing to do with that hand, even going as far as to be afraid of it.

“From picking things up to throwing things, to batting, to writing, to just coloring you’d do at home with him, he’s always, always used his left hand,” Alisha told KFOR about her confusion on this simple situation, which soon turned into an all-out war with the school for good reason.

After watching him at her kitchen table as he colored and practiced his writing with the wrong hand, she finally asked him what was wrong with his left hand, which he normally uses for everything. That’s when he raised that hand and told her, “This one’s bad.”

That perplexing answer only further concerned Alisha, who pushed more to figure out the problem. Zayde then gave her a sheet of paper his teacher had given him at school that day, explaining that the little boy was “unlucky,” “evil,” and “sinister” for being left-handed. Without the parent’s permission, the teacher allegedly forced the preschooler to use his right hang, while making him believe that he’s evil and associated with the devil for favoring his left.

In the inappropriate letter from the teacher, it claimed that because the devil is often portrayed as left-handed, it must never be favored unless one wants to assimilate themselves with evil. To make matters worse, Zayde’s teacher, whose name was not released, was effective in convincing the boy that he’s bad because of how he was born.

“It breaks my heart for him because someone actually believes that, believes my child is evil because he’s left handed, it’s crazy,” Alisha said.

Alisha wasn’t going to let this slide, especially now that she has to undo the insane lies that this teacher made her son believe about himself. She took the crazy talk article to the school’s superintendent, but they essentially shrugged it off. “There was no suspension of any kind. There was basically nothing done to this teacher,” the frustrated mom said of the school’s lack of action.

Alisha’s hands are tied, both the right one and the “evil” one, but she’s not going to subject her kid to another day of this sickening ideology about being left-handed. She’s decided to transfer Zayde to another class with a different teacher, but the school has to allow it first. Along with the move, Alisha also intends to file a complaint with the Oklahoma Board of Education.

The school needs to fire the teacher and get the real “evil” out of the classroom and off the campus. Any adult, who makes a child believe these things about themselves because of their own deranged ideas, is sick and has no place around impressionable kids. It’s not their position to replace a parent, which is what this teacher tried to do.
