Restaurant Bombarded After Posting Unusual Thanksgiving Sign On Door, Proves BIG Issue
By Dreamer

When a hungry Michigander stopped in to a local hot spot to grab some grub, they were confronted with an unusual handwritten sign at the front door. Before going inside, the diner snapped a picture to share on social media, and now the eatery is getting a lot of attention which proves a problem in society.
The franchisee of a Coney Island restaurant in Northville, Michigan took it upon himself to solve what he has seen as a problem surrounding him where he lives, by whipping up a simple sign in black permanent marker and slapping it on the front door of his business. After getting droves of attention for his bold move, he said there was one reason why he felt compelled to do it, and it comes from his personal experience many years ago.

George’s Senate Coney Island, named after the owner of this particular location George Dimopoulos, announced on a piece of printer paper, “George’s Thanksgiving Day dinner: If anyone is alone, come eat with us for free! All Day Thurs.”

Even though the country is now just hearing about George and his generosity since it was shared on Reddit, he’s offered free food to homeless and lonely people who have nobody to break bread with on this day of feast for years, WILX reported.
George told the news station that his outreach is a success each year, with dozens of people taking him up on his offer, all who seem to enjoy the company of others so nobody is alone or hungry. He hopes more people show up this year, explaining that doing this for others makes him happy that he can give back after what life dealt him as a child. “It makes my heart feel good to do it, and help a little bit,” George said.

The restaurateur moved to the U.S. from Greece when he was just 23-years-old and has made a success of himself through hard work, out of the ashes off poverty and desperation he suffered in his country. George was one of seven brothers and sisters who was so poor growing up that his parents couldn’t afford food or even to send him to school. He said that when he was 12, he ran away from home and was homeless for a time, dependent on the compassion of strangers to toss him some scraps of food.
Now, he just wants to give back and repay his debt to society for the generosity he was shown in his struggle. The fact that there are so many who are alone, without food or people to eat it with, is a problem many would rather ignore. George is a light in an entitled society of people, looking for ways he can contribute and expecting nothing in return, other than people to accept his offer.
