Girl Asks Strange Man Question, Tracks Her Down When Mom’s Not Looking

While shopping at a Texas Walmart, Ana-Marie Sandoval’s little girl wandered away and approached a strange man with a question. She called her daughter back to her side, only to be tracked down later by the stranger, who gave the girl something that took the mother aback.
Ana-Marie told ABC7 News in Amarillo that her daughter took notice of a man shopping near them in a store and couldn’t take her eyes off him. Soon, the little girl’s curiosity got the best of her, and she took her chances in approaching the man, who looked a lot like Santa doing some grocery shopping, to ask him if he was in fact the actual St. Nick. But the man’s response wasn’t exactly what Ana-Marie was expecting when he found them a while later, before leaving the store.

The sweet little girl walked right up to the unnamed man and asked him if he was Santa, to which he simply said yes and wished her a Merry Christmas as he walked away. The mother and daughter went about their shopping, when on their way toward the registers “Santa” confronted them again.
He stooped down in front of Ana-Marie’s daughter and asked what she would like for Christmas. After a brief conversation, he reached into his shopping basket and pulled out some Christmas candy to give to the girl, along with some money to pay for it on their way out of Walmart. The mother was stunned by this man’s sweet gesture for her girl, going above and beyond to preserve her innocence of the season and keep the Santa magic alive by doing something extra for her.
She took a picture of “St. Nick” with her daughter holding the seasonal treats he just gifted her, before they parted ways. This man probably gets approached a lot by children during the season, when out and about doing mundane tasks. He could have been a Scrooge about it, telling her yes he was Santa and moving along or ignoring the inquiry altogether out of annoyance. But instead, he saw it as an opportunity to do something special for a stranger, and that’s what this season is all about.
