If You See A Blue Pumpkin This Year, Here’s The Hidden Meaning Behind Them
By Dreamer

Blue pumpkins are expected to pop up on porches around the country this year, and while they may look like they are in support of law enforcement, they are not. Americans need to know what they really represent, since the seemingly innocuous blue beacon actually serves as a message to visitors.
The blue pumpkin trend started to surface last year at Halloween time. Parents probably walked right past these pastel painted gourds, while taking their children trick-or-treating, and didn’t think much about them. But chances are, your child received something other than candy at the house that displayed one or more of these.

What these pumpkins promote is a safer and happier Halloween for kids who suffer from food allergies, which can quickly and easily prove to be fatal if the wrong food item comes anywhere near the wrong child. The idea, actually called the Teal Pumpkin Project, despite the fact that many pumpkins are painted in a variety of blues, was created by Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE).

By placing one of these special pumpkins on your porch, it lets parents and their trick-or-treaters know that there are other non-food treats available at that house, that’s safe for a child with food allergies. It also serves as a reminder of all the children that suffer from this daily struggle and their parents who have to make special effort to keep them safe.
Having a blue pumpkin on your porch, shows that you support the kids who can’t eat whatever they want, at the risk of their lives. That little bit of freedom taken from their childhood shouldn’t be something they have to think about at every doorbell they ring this Halloween, wondering what candy they’re getting that could harm them.
