Diner Irate At What’s Written On Receipt After Server Had Been Watching Him

All Frantz Leger wanted was two burgers, a basket of fries, and a quiet place to enjoy it when he ended up with a side order of hate that he wasn’t expecting. The Florida resident grabbed lunch at one of his favorite places for greasy grub in Miami, but he will never be back after what his waitress decided to say to him.
After consuming two “porkys” and a serving of fries with extra cheddar ar Los Perros, Leger was handed his $25.87 tab for the meal, along with something else. His waitress, Kissila, wasn’t overly friendly, and in just two words on his tab he learned why. Now, he’s out for blood, making the owner of the chain pay for what the server did, but there’s just one big problem with that over-the-top reaction.

Rather than noting Leger’s table and order numbers on his tab, Kissila indicated who the customer was by using a racial slur. Leger, who is black, pointed out that “n*gger” (without the censorship) was typed where the table number should be and brought it to the restaurant’s attention after he went home, furious that she would refer to him as that.

The staff excused it as a technological error, claiming that the computer “auto-corrected” Leger into “n*gger.” While that seems extremely unlikely, since point-of-sale stations aren’t typically equipped with that kind of correction, what Leger decided to do about it was a worse excuse for bad behavior.
According to Local 10 News, the waitress immediately resigned from her job after Leger called and complained, which was the right thing for her irresponsible and inexcusable actions. The offensive incident took place in July of 2015, and now over a year later, Leger decided to cash in on this incident.
He’s filed a discrimination suit against the owner of Los Perros for what this server did on her own choosing, not condoned by anyone in the chain or the owner. He’s seeking “an injunction against the illegal discrimination, compensatory damages, punitive damages, attorneys’ fees and costs, and any other available relief under the statues,” the lawsuit states.
Without question, this waiter was in the wrong for trying to be clever on a receipt when she is supposed to focus on customer service and represent a company and their values. She deserved individual punishment for her intentional action, but the owner is the one who pays the price for what they had no part in, simply because he has deeper pockets to go after than the worker. It also says something about Leger’s intentions that he waited over a year to go after it. Again, what the server did was wrong, but that doesn’t mean that what the customer is doing is right.
