Awful Texas Roadhouse Server Rips Off Veteran Three Times By Changing Tip Amount
By Dreamer

A disabled veteran and his wife say they will no longer dine at a Texas Roadhouse in Colorado ever again after they ate at one, and staff secretly changed their tip amount not once, but three separate times they dined there.
That’s right, folks, the servers there tampered with the bill three separate times.
The first time Doug Woodward and his wife noticed that they’d been overcharged at Texas Roadhouse, they didn’t follow-up on the incident, probably chalking it up to an innocent mistake.
Per KXRM, however, the Woodwards decided enough was enough by the second incident. Doug called to speak with a manager and it was revealed that a server had changed the tip amount. Rather than totally blacklist all Texas Roadhouses, however, Doug and his wife decided to steer clear of that particular location.

About one year later, the Woodwards decided to give the chain one last try -- and it happened again.
Seriously?
Apparently, after Doug and his wife treated another couple to dinner, they received a bill that came in at $105.01. Mrs. Woodward paid, and left a $10 tip.
However, the bank statement revealed a different charge.
“She tipped herself instead of the $10, she tipped herself $18,” explained Doug.
This time around, Woodward’s wife had kept a copy of the receipt and brought it in for the manager to see.
“Clearly there was a small zero added to the zero here and a straight line drawn through the 5 to try to make that appear to be an 8.”
“For her to show us the actual receipt that had been changed, that’s the smoking gun… You can’t deny that it was changed,” Doug concluded.
What’s more, Doug is a disabled veteran, and lives on a fixed income. According to Doug, the server actually knew that he and another one of his guests were veterans, and still tried to change the bill anyway.
“We are on a budget like no one’s business,” Doug explained. “For us to do this, that was huge, and for her to take advantage of us like that and we even told her that we were vets. We asked about the military discount and so she knew that we were vets."
“There’s no way on earth I was the only victim," he said. "I think a lot of people need to check their receipts and I think there’s going to be a lot of angry people."
Since the incident, the Texas Roadhouse location fired the employee who tampered with the receipt, and refunded the full amount of the bill to the Woodwards.
Editors Note: KXRM has updated its coverage. In a statement released Sept. 26, Texas Roadhouse spokesperson Travis Doster said, "Sadly, we have discovered this was a scam. We have rehired the server, banned this gentleman for life from any Texas Roadhouse and are considering legal action."
