Coach Gives Lesson On Disrespecting Flag, But Two Students Had Other Plans

In the wake of the ongoing National Anthem controversy plaguing the NFL, a high school football coach recently decided to give his students a lesson on disrespecting our nation’s flag. However, two of the kids on his team had other plans. While the coach is garnering attention, it’s the actions of a couple of boys that everyone should be talking about.

Preston Brown, the head coach of the Woodrow Wilson Tigers football team in east Camden, New Jersey, advised his players of his plans to take a knee during the National Anthem prior to their season opener on Sunday, September 11th, 2016 — the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks on the U.S.

As Coach Preston Brown (inset) took a knee (right) during the anthem, some students had other plans, such as the one hidden by the team flag (left).

“I still love America. I still love our military, but this was our way of saying that things have to change in our country. There’s oppression, there’s social injustice, and these kids live it,” an ignorant Coach Brown explained, repeating the rhetoric spewed by Black Lives Matter.

When The Star-Spangled Banner began to play, Preston did as he said he was going to do as his team, which is made up of primarily young black students from a primarily young black student body, joined him. However, two students stood out above the rest — literally. The brave teens didn’t cave to the peer pressure or their coach’s misguided lesson based on the false narrative of the BLM.

Woodrow Wilson seniors Edwin Lopez and Tyler Parsons stood during the national anthem. The two seniors had enough fortitude to stand up for what they believe, rather than follow their coach’s poor example. “I’ve always stood for the national anthem and I wasn’t going to let a little incident in the NFL change that,” Lopez explained. “That’s not me.”

Player #1 didn’t cave to peer pressure and stood proudly.

Quickly, it became apparent that these young men weren’t alone. Members of Highland High School, which was the opposing team that day, vented their disappointment in the Woodrow Wilson Tigers’ coach and the students who followed his lead. “There are people out there every day risking their lives for us,” Highland senior running back Orlando Council, who is black, explained as he honored the heroes who defend our great country, Blue Lives Matter reports.

Unfortunately, following the incident, Coach Brown seems to be the one getting all the attention as he references the misinformation created by the Black Lives Matter movement, further promoting the propaganda and divisiveness encouraged by the liberal leftists. Using the deaths of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown, the movement began by twisting their stories to sensationalize the deaths that could be perverted to fit their rhetoric while misrepresenting statistics. This false narrative has only grown, even in the face of facts.

Now, NFL players, celebrities, and even high school coaches who cry out, “Social Injustice!” quickly garner the public spotlight. However, the students who stood up should be receiving our attention and becoming social media viral sensations. This is the behavior we should be spotlighting, spreading, and encouraging. These brave boys are the future hope for our nation as their peers are brainwashed by the Coach Browns who use our youth to create a publicity stunt for their 15 minutes of fame.

Since it seems to be what he likes to do, Coach Brown should take a seat as our nation turns from his antics to focus on those who are deserving of our attention. Bravo, young men. Way to show the rest of them how it’s done. It seems the team could learn more from these two guys than their coach.
