If you don’t think Donald Trump has the experience to deal with matters of national security and foreign policy at the presidential level, this story might make you re-think that idea.
Shortly before the 9/11 terror attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people, Trump predicted that something very much like them would occur.
Trump made the prediction in his 2000 book, “The America We Deserve.” Fifteen years later, the host and panel of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” were absolutely floored by it:
“Wait, wait, wait,” co-host Joe Scarborough said on the show Tuesday morning. “OK, hold on a second. Is this really Trump before 9/11? Have you read this? Did you make this up, Mika?”
Trump’s book was released 19 months before the deadly terror attacks, according to TheBlaze. This is what the now-GOP presidential front-runner wrote at that time:
“I really am convinced we’re in danger of the sort of terrorist attacks that will make the bombing of the Trade Center look like kids playing with firecrackers … No sensible analyst rejects this possibility, and plenty of them, like me, are not wondering if but when it will happen.”
“One day we’re told that a shadowy figure with no fixed address named Osama bin-Laden is public enemy number one, and U.S. jetfighters lay waste to his camp in Afghanistan,” Trump added in the book. “He escapes back under some rock, and a few news cycles later it’s on to a new enemy and new crisis.”
Co-host Mika Brzezinski then dared Nicholas Confessore, a reporter with The New York Times, to reiterate his claim that Trump’s campaign for the White House was “over.”
“He predicted — basically predicted — the attacks from Osama bin Laden,” Scarborough said, still dumbfounded.
