Unlike “normal” politicians, Donald Trump doesn’t need to play by the rules. And that’s why a lot of people like him. Whether or not he would make a good president is yet to be seen, but the fact remains that no one in the history of American presidential nominees has been anything like Donald Trump.
And because Trump doesn’t play by the conventional rules of American politics, he has more freedom to do what he wants. In the past he has done some nice things with his power. For example, decades ago in 1988 Trump commissioned his private 747 on a cross country flight from Los Angeles to New York. But instead of having Trump on board this flight, it help three other passengers – 3-year-old Andrew Ten and his parents.
The story behind it will warm your heart…
The story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Why wasn’t Trump on board? Well, he helped Andrew get the medical care the boy needed.
The 3-year-old toddler had been struggling with a breathing condition that the California doctors had been unable to identify. The Jewish boy needed the superior New York City care and Trump was dying to help.
And because the Tens wanted the best care available for their little boy, they decided they needed to get him on a plane and fly him east to the doctors in the big metropolis.
But no commercial airline was willing to take the risk. They were worried that Andrew might have a problem breathing on the flight and they would be held responsible. The boy needed to have an oxygen tank, a suction machine, adrenaline syringe, and a lot more medical equipment in order to survive. The boy was in bad health.
Because the Tens were a normal family without much money, they couldn’t afford the flight they needed to get their son and all of his medical equipment from California to New York. And the large commercial airlines were unwilling to help the family in their time of need.
Enter Donald Trump. Completely running out of ideas, the family did the only thing they could think of. They reached out to Trump himself hoping that against the odds he would be willing to help somehow.
But he did so much more than that. The businessman jumped at the opportunity to do some good and offered his private jet to the Tens in their hour of desperation.
Andrew’s father, Rabbi “Hershy” Harold Ten, said “Mr. Trump did not hesitate when we called him up. He said ‘yes, I’ll send my plane out.’”
“Donald Trump is a miracle, just a miracle,” said Feigy Ten, Andrew’s grandmother. Both of Andrew’s grandparents had thanked Trump profusely because he had helped save their little boy.
The media had been flabbergasted by Trump’s rare display of generosity in the incident that happened decades ago. This was well before his reality TV fame on The Apprentice.
When asked why they thought Trump would do this for them, Harold simply replied, “Because he is a good man. He has three children of his own, and he knows what being a parent is all about.”
