Cops Charge Walmart Worker After Finding Something Strange In Cash Register
By Dreamer

Two suspects have been arrested and a third is being sought in connection with a scam perpetrated at a Buford, Ga., Walmart that involved a cashier allegedly working with two other people to accept fake money.
Joselyn Gerstenlauer, 19, who had been employed by Walmart, was the first of the trio arrested after Walmart loss prevention officials investigated the presence of fake money in her cash register.
Police say the scam went like this:

Travis Taylor, 36, allegedly picked out a piece of lawn equipment, accompanied by Melissa Sinquefield, 30, and went to the checkout register operated by Gerstenlauer.
Sinquefield confronted the cashier about money that the cashier supposedly owed her, and then went to her vehicle.
Taylor went through the checkout line and gave Gerstenlauer movie prop cash for the equipment.
Sinquefield later returned the equipment at another Walmart for a cash refund.
The fake money was later discovered in the cashier’s register. However, she had stopped showing up for work by then.
The money was not intended to pass as real. Each $100 bill was labeled “FOR MOTION PICTURE USE ONLY” on both sides. The fake Franklins also included a message that read, “This note is not legal, it is to be used for motion pictures.”

Fake money such as that used in the scam is available online, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Loss prevention officials at Walmart suspected there had been collusion between the cashier and other suspects because the money was very obviously labeled as a prop.
Police eventually pieced together the scam and issued arrest warrants for all three suspects. Gerstenlauer surrendered to police on Tuesday. Sinquefield also turned herself in and was in jail as of Thursday.
Taylor is still being sought on charges of forgery and theft. Police are also seeking him on outstanding warrants for allegedly passing counterfeit money.
