A Mississippi firefighter was praised for his quick thinking and compassion after he comforted a child who had just been in a car crash by showing the child a movie on his phone.
Firefighter Casey Lessard responded to the crash that caused five people, including the child, to fly out of an SUV that had flipped several times, WGHP reported. While a rescue crew was preparing to transport the driver and children to the hospital, Lessard took quick action to comfort one of the injured children.

Casey Lessard, a firefighter from D’Iberville, Mississippi, used his phone to show the child clips from the movie “Happy Feet”, a popular animated film about emperor penguins.

D’Iberville Fire Captain Darren Peterson told the Sun Herald that calming down young victims of trauma is part of the job.
“The kids… we do whatever we can to calm them down,” he said. “The video calmed him down instantly.”
All passengers in the vehicle were taken to the hospital.
