Police Cook Dinner For Lonely Elderly People After Hearing Them Crying
By Timfly

Police were called to an apartment after neighbors reported hearing crying and shouting. The four officers who attended found 84-year-old Jole and her 94-year-old husband Michele.
The couple told police that they’d started crying while watching the news. Jole had asked Michele, “Why there was so much hate in the news that day?” Jole told police that’s when she started crying, admitting that it was mostly because the couple who have been married for nearly 70 years were feeling lonely.
She told responding officers that no one had come to visit them in “ages” and that the loneliness was “suffocating with only a television to keep them company.”
While waiting for a paramedic to check on the couple, the officers noticed that they only had a few old grapes in the house. So one of the officers decided to cook the couple a meal of spaghetti with butter and parmesan, while the other officers sat down for a chat.

Rome police took to Facebook to share the couple’s story and ask for messages to reassure a couple who needed help and some warmth. The post has received over 64,000 likes and 24,000 shares, with hundred of people offering to visit the couple a few days a week.
