Woman Snaps Pic Of Terrible Wreck, Floored At What’s Hidden In Plain Sight
By Timfly

Kay Denton, who works with the Commerce Police Department, was on Interstate-85 in Commerce when the crash caught her eye. With traffic at a standstill as crews worked to clear the scene, the woman watched on and prayed that all involved would be okay, even though the situation looked dire. With the perfect vantage point from where she was parked along the side of the road, Denton saw something else at the scene which she felt the need to share, with photo proof of what she witnessed.
Taking a quick look at this picture you would think it's just people getting out a car wreck, but there is much more going on. What it really shows is a beautiful act of kindness in the middle of a very upsetting and chaotic scene. This image perfectly embodies what it means to be a police officer and Sergeant Kay Denton felt compelled to share it.
In a post on social media, Denton explained, “If you look closely you can see a police officer lying on the ground to the left side of the car.” While this may not seem like a significant detail, it’s what she caught him doing that took her breath away.

Denton writes:
“This is a photo of a wreck scene today on I-85, if you look closely you can see a police officer lying on the ground to the left side of the car. This officer was not hurt or injured in any way. This officer was comforting a child who was injured in the accident.
This child was an eight year old black male who was scared to death and had some internal injuries. This officer laid on the ground with this child, cradling his head in his hand and talking to him to keep him calm. When we found out that today is the child’s birthday, this officer sang Happy Birthday to him! At one point the child reached over and patted the officer on the head and then played with the officer’s hair!
“THIS is why I’m a police officer, to help people, to be there for them no matter what the circumstances and no matter what skin color!” she said. “With all the ‘anti-police’ propaganda that is seen in the media, all of the ‘bad cop’ stories, and stories of ‘racial’ issues, I wanted to share THIS.”

Cpl. Christopher Holly is the officer and you can see him lying on the ground with the boy, just next to the driver’s open door:

This beautiful act of kindness casts a brighter light on the everyday good that police officers do for their communities. Christopher Holly was the boy's guardian angel, as are many officers to strangers on a daily basis. They take the opportunity to save the day however they can.
