Driver’s Gut Tells Her To Turn Around, That’s When She Sees Who Needs Her

By Timfly

The last thing a woman wanted to do, while driving down a dark and freezing road alone, was stop and get out of her vehicle. It was just after 7 a.m., and Tina Dubyts was on her way to work, but she was overcome with the urge to turn around and made a sharp U-turn. Looking toward the guard rail, she was struck with horror when she saw who needed her help.

“I didn’t actually see anything, but something got my attention,” Dubyts told CBC News on Wednesday, regarding the moment she felt that she was being led to the guard rail. The driver in Manitoba, Canada found a mangled 26-year-old woman, later identified as Kristen Hiebert, trying to pull herself to the road to flag down help. Dubyts hit the brakes and ran to the woman, who mumbled something about another person, before leading her to a chilling scene.

According to Yahoo Parenting, approximately 12 hours earlier, Hiebert was heading down the rural road with her 4-year-old daughter Avery in tow. Their car slipped off the road and into an embankment, far out of sight from any passerby ever being able to see them, and both of the mother’s arms had broken in the wreck. Now, with her vehicle in a heap that was nearly impossible to get out of, her focus was on keeping her child warm and trying to survive the night as the temperature delved into the negative teens.

As night fell on the trapped and injured duo, it reached -25 degrees where they were, and Hiebert put her survival on the line to warm her daughter. She reportedly covered the little girl’s body with her own, staying huddled up like that for 10-12 hours.

When the sun came up, the mother was stunned to see that she and her daughter had made it through the night, despite both suffering severe frostbite in addition to their other injuries. That’s when Hiebert, with two broken limbs and the inability to feel other frozen parts, decided to make a run at finding help for her daughter.

The heroic mother managed to climb her way up the icy embankment, all the way to the guard rail along the road where Dubyts found her, simply because she followed a prompting to stop. “She was in shock. She was obviously frozen. She just kept talking about her daughter,” the rescuer told the news station, LiftBump reported.

After calling police to help, Dubyts went down the treacherous hill to find little Avery. She discovered the small child curled up in a ball, inside a hole where the passenger-side tire used to be, still holding on for dear life. Dubyts carefully scooped her up and wrapped her in a blanket, before hiking back up the hill with the girl in her arms.

Canadian emergency services arrived to the scene as this heroic woman made it back to the road with the child. The mother and her daughter were taken to the hospital, where they are still recovering. Despite suffering frostbite, Avery only had a few scratches. Her mother sacrificed herself to protect the girl, which resulted in several broken bones and frostbite in more areas than her child. But it was all worth it in the end to have survived the ordeal, thanks to the heroism of two women.

Had Dubyts ignored God whispering into her heart and telling her to turn around, a mother and daughter would have possibly suffered fatal consequences. The motorist was an angel, as was the mother, both who chose to listen to their intuition and pull from the inner-strength God gave them to make it out of this.
