If You See THIS In The Woods Or Around Your Home Run Away From It ASAP! Here's Why...

There are a few dangers that you might notice while walking in the woods. You could encounter a snake, or you might happen to walk upon a patch of poison ivy. There is one thing that you should avoid if you see it while in the woods as it can be deadly.

The item is something with a strange look. It appears to be a hand sticking out of the ground. It’s a fungus called “Dead Man’s Fingers,” and as the name implies, it looks like fingers and fingernails on a hand.

They can be light in color or darker if the fungus has been growing for some time.

When young it is pale (often bluish), with a whitish tip; the pale covering is a coating of asexual spores produced in this early stage of development which is usually early spring. By summer, however, the mushroom begins to blacken, and by late summer or fall it is entirely black and dried out.

While they aren’t toxic, you can’t eat the fungus. It’s a member of the mushroom family. In other countries, some people have consumed them, offering a bit about the taste of the fungus. Some would say it has a fruity flavor. The inside of the fungus is white.

When you find dead man’s finger near a tree around your home, the first thing you want to do is determine the source of the growth. Is it growing from the trunk of the tree or the roots? Or is it growing on the mulch at the base of the tree? Dead man’s finger growing on the trunk or roots of a tree is very bad news. The fungus breaks down the structure of the tree quickly, causing a condition known as soft rot. There is no cure, and you should remove the tree before it becomes a hazard. Infected trees can collapse and fall without warning. This is a potentially dangerous situation that means your tree should be removed sooner rather than later. Contact your arborist or local tree trimmer to take care of the problem before dead man’s finger makes a graveyard out of your garden.
