A Teacher's Recommend Sleeping Bedtime Rules For Kids Has Gone Viral! This Is Why...
By Dreamer

Here is a special sleeping schedule chart prepared by a kindergarten teacher, which has gone viral.
The bedtime rules
This chart with timings, as to when the children of respective ages should go to bed was put up on the Facebook by an educator Stacy Karlsen of Wisconsin Elementary. The chart shows timings at which schools might open and the corresponding times at which the children of different ages should go to bed.
“To me, it was a shock [that the post was shared so much]. I didn’t make it up. I found it coming across my personal page and I thought, Wow, this is super helpful,” the first grade teacher said. According to the chart, if your child is 5 years old and has to wake up at 6 am, he/she needs to be in bed by 6.45 pm in evening.
The chart gave answers to the question ‘At what time should your child go to bed?’

The merits
Some parents have found the chart pretty useful while others say they were very tired and faced difficulty getting their children to sleep on time. But now after setting the charts, they are able to make a timetable for their kids.
According to sleep experts, children from the age group of 3-5 years should get 11-13 hours of sleep and from 6-13 years should get 9-11 hours of sleep each night. Parents say that putting kids in bed at an early age is better as they can get moody and cranky when they don’t get enough sleep in night.
But some parents have called the chart unrealistic and anything but helpful.

The demerits
Some parents say if they send their kids to bed by 7 pm, they will be up by 4-4.30 am and that is something they cannot afford and if one parent comes home after work late by 8 or 8.30 pm there would be no way in which they will get to spend time with them.
The experts took a look at the chart and said that it might work for some families, but it won’t work for families with working people who come late or have some other issues.

Reactions
The post has gone viral on Facebook with more than 8,000 comments and 386,267 shares. Experts and parents have had their opinions heard on the social media and some have called the chart of sleep everything from “unrealistic” to “a great resource.”
No matter what anyone or others say, experts say that the bedtime of a child depends on many things like homework, extracurricular activities, parents’ work hours and school timings. So it is better to remember the usual rule of thumb, children less than 10 years of age should be in bed before 10pm.
