What causes your belly to bloat?
Professor Peter Gibson, from Monash University and the Alfred Hospital, in Melbourne, was one of the first who suggested that gluten sensitivity could be behind bloating,
But now he believes these symptoms are actually caused by short-chain carbohydrates called FODMAPs - also found in many products that contain gluten, Business Insider reports.
These carbohydrates are fermented in the bowel which means fluid is drawn in and gas is produced.

This is not the only thing causing bloating. Here is a list of things that will contribute to bloating:
Eating too fast
Partially chewed food is slowly digested, and you get bloated. Simple as that. So, take small bites, and chew them well.
Constipation
Constipation is a rather unpleasant issue, and it indicates that you need more fiber-rich foods. The gasses that remain trapped behind the feces will not stand still for a long time, you know.
Eat your fiber gradually, otherwise you will only make the problem even worse.

Insufficient water intake
Dehydration is a major cause of numerous health problems. Excessive consumption of coffee and alcohol only contributes to the problem. When was the last time you had 6-8 glasses of water during the day?
When the body lacks water, it uses the liquids from its tissues, which means that bloating may appear as a result of fluid retention. So, try to drink more water.

Chronic stress
Believe it or not, stress may cause bloating. When you are under stress, your digestive system fails to perform its function properly. Your bloating may be caused by constipation and stomach ache. So, try to free yourself from the negative emotions, and you will solve your problem for good.
Carbohydrates
Excessive consumption of carbs may contribute to your bloated belly. Consider eating low-carb foods, and cut off your sugar intake and alcohol. Eat more fresh fruits and veggies.
