Walking is one of the easiest and most effective ways to lose weight. Here's what you need to do to get started and stay motivated.
Using a Fit Bit, or a pedometer, can tell you how many steps you've taken, allowing you to set goals.

It takes roughly 2000 steps to burn 100 calories and 10,000 steps to lose a pound.

Take the stairs not the elevator. Walk instead of driving. Choose the parking spot that is furthest from the door.

Keep it interesting when going for walks. Go to different areas, parks, lakes, etc. Make sure to take music with you, or call someone on the phone.


If you can get a friend motivated to lose weight with you, it will pass the time during your walks and also you will push each other when the other doesn't want to go.

When you're walking make sure to keep breathing, squeeze your glutes, take long strides, and add in any hills that you can handle.
