Leaplings, also known as babies born on leap day, 29 February, are a rare occurrence that happens only once every four years. Some hospitals have found an adorable way to commemorate the births of these special individuals.
Every four years, St. Clair Hospital joyfully embraces their tiny leaplings by dressing them up in frog costumes, which adds an extra touch of cuteness to these little leapling babies.
Did you know that the odds of being born on Feb. 29 are about 1 in 1,461, equaling about 5 million people in the whole world? Being a leap day baby means you are part of a small and exclusive group called leaplings.
The Osceola Regional Medical Center released a picture of five new lives brought into the world on Feb. 29.
The newborns at the hospital were adorned in adorable frog costumes, meticulously hand-knitted by the dedicated staff, which brought immense joy to everyone.
The Woman's Hospital of Texas dressed up their Leap Year babies as frogs. They released the photos on their Facebook page with the caption:
"These special LeapDay babies are part of a group that shares the rarest birthday and together represent only about .07% of the world’s population. Because it will be four years before they can celebrate on the 29th again, help us give Cameron, Kaki, Oaklynn, Rylon and all our LeapYear babies the biggest, greatest “happy birthday” wishes!"
