Alaska Airlines Flight Attendant Amber May showed true heroism when she faced an unexpected and unusual request during a flight from Atlanta to Seattle.

With a decade of experience under her belt, Amber has seen her fair share of odd situations in the skies. But none quite like the unique challenge she faced on that fateful flight. Six precious Chilean flamingo eggs, en route from Zoo Atlanta to Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, were nestled in a portable incubator, watched over by a zoo official.
But when the incubator malfunctioned mid-flight, putting the delicate eggs in jeopardy, it was time for action.
"A passenger asked if I could help keep some eggs warm," Amber recounted to Alaska Air.
Without hesitation, Amber sprang into action. Collaborating with the zookeeper, she devised a clever solution. Using rubber gloves filled with warm water, she created makeshift nests to cradle the eggs and shield them from the cabin's chill. Throughout the entire five-hour flight, she tirelessly replenished the water in the gloves, ensuring the eggs stayed cozy and safe.
The unexpected call of duty also mobilized the compassion of fellow passengers, who willingly sacrificed their coats and scarves to provide additional insulation for the flamingo eggs. The collective effort onboard the Alaska Airlines flight became a heartening display of humanity.

"In my 10 years of flying, the request to help save flamingo eggs was one of the strangest I've ever received," Amber reflected. "I'm honored to have had the opportunity to help, and I'm happy that all six chicks hatched successfully!"
