Baby ducks were stuck in a sewer grate — officer use brilliant trick to lure them to safety
By RonnySteel

A heartwarming rescue unfolded when a group of ducklings found themselves trapped after accidentally falling through a sewer grate. Stepping up to the challenge, police officers devised a clever plan to bring them to safety.
The Nassau County Police Department received an urgent 911 call on Sunday regarding a distressed mother duck navigating perilously close to traffic on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa, New York. The department shared the remarkable incident on their Facebook page.
Upon investigation, it became apparent that the mother duck was in a state of agitation due to her four ducklings being trapped beneath a sewer grate. The officers promptly coordinated their efforts, with a team consisting of four patrol officers and two Emergency Service Unit officers, to embark on a daring rescue mission.

According to PIX 11, the officers traced the path of the sewer system to a nearby reservoir and could hear the ducklings.
To lure them out to safety, the officers came up with a clever solution: they opened the YouTube app and played a video of mother duck calls. Amazingly, the ducklings responded to the call and waddled right to them.
The officers then cleaned up the ducklings and reunited them with their mom in a nearby creek.
