Dad of 6-year-old girl who died from hit-and-run says, "She died in my arms"

Residents that live in the 7600 block of Bingham Street say that drivers constantly drive down the road at dangerous speeds. Now, the speeding on the street has left a Dearborn family grieving the death of a 6-year-old girl.
The child named Batoul Al-Fadawi died after a driver, who sped down the street and failed to stop even after the girl was struck. A neighbor's surveillance camera captured the moment where the SUV fled the scene after leaving Batoul severely injured.

"My mom actually fainted a couple of times and not just that, this girl has a couple of sisters and little children that are crying right now, grieving because of this driver," one of the family's relatives said, according to ClickOnDetroit.
Following the incident, the police released a statement and said, as quoted by PEOPLE, "The Dearborn Police responded to the 7600 block of Bingham on report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers identified a 6-year-old child who had severe injuries and determined that the vehicle involved failed to stop."
The police statement also said the "initial investigation identified the vehicle involved as a silver or white Chevrolet Equinox."
After the hit-and-run incident on November 7, 2021, Batoul was rushed to the hospital, where doctors received her in critical condition. They had no choice but to tell the father to say his last goodbyes.
"The doctors just came up to me and they told me, ‘Your daughter is dying. Just say goodbye to her.’ Within the next couple of minutes -- and she died in my arms," the father, Haidar Al-Fadawi, told ClickOnDetroit.

Those who live in the area, where Batoul was hit, reveal that speeding in the street has always been a problem. The driver who took Batoul's life was reportedly driving at a speed of 50 miles per hour.
"People shouldn’t drive like that, crazy. He was driving like he was on the highway and the way he hit her," said Batoul's grieving mother, Nadine Al-Fadawi.
Stricter penalties should be doled out to hit-and-run drivers, said Attorney Majed Moughni.
“Right now the price for driving a 5,000-pound vehicle at 50 miles per hour is not high enough," Moughni said. "There needs to be a greater price to pay."

Dearborn police Chief Ronald Haddad also said after Batoul's death, "This tragedy has impacted our entire community. We will expend every resource until the person responsible is located."
A few days after the child passed away, the 18-year-old suspect turned himself in while the SUV he drove was found parked outside a relative's home.

Survived by her parents, her six sisters, and one brother, Batoul will be remembered for having a "beautiful" soul.
"Her excitement about being with family, playing, and learning were exceptional," her family said on a GoFundMe page set up after her death, according to PEOPLE. "She always had a smile on her face and her voice was likewise enthusiastic."
