Sunburns can be a pain, remedy that using these 7+ all natural remedies

The sunny days of summer means time at the beach, in the pool or sunbathing. Often, the first time out in the sun results in a sunburn. Even if you have a tan built up, forgetting to faithfully apply the sunscreen may still result in a nasty sunburn.

How do you find relief from the constant burn? Can you do something to help heal the damaged skin more quickly? Here are 7+ home treatments to try on a bad summer sunburn.

1. Cool compress. First up, head for some cool water on a soft cloth. To get better relief from a cool compress, MedicineNet.com recommends adding Burow's solution to the mix. Combine 1 packet to 1 pint of water.

2. White vinegar. White vinegar to treat the sting of a sunburn has been around for a long time. Prevention says to splash some white vinegar on the burned areas. Its astringent properties help give relief. The only drawback is smelling like a pickle.

3. Oatmeal bath. Sometimes, a soak in a cool bathtub is the best option. Reader's Digest says to fill a nylon with colloidal oatmeal and attach it to the tub faucet. Let the water run over the sock as the tub fills. Soak in the tub for 15 to 20 minutes.

4. Baking soda bath. Another bathtub relief is to place 2 cups of baking soda into a tub of cool water, according to MedicineNet.com.

5. Aloe vera gel. Aloe vera is perfect for treating all sorts of skin ailments. Prevention recommends spreading the gel from an actual aloe leaf directly onto the burn. If that's not available, aloe vera gel can be bought at the store. Be sure to get one that has a high aloe concentrate.

6. Sunburn bath. To get the best of all worlds, Reader's Digest shares a recipe for a "sunburn bath." Combine 2 to 4 cups finely ground oatmeal, 1 cup baking soda and 1 cup evaporated milk in a tub of cool water.

7. Honey. Manuka honey has shown great promise in healing wounds, so Medical News Today says it may be worth a try on a sunburn. Place a thin layer of honey on the burn and cover it with a sterile gauze.

8. Black tea. The tannin in black tea may provide some relief from a burn. MedicineNet.com says to use freshly brewed tea. Soak a soft cloth in the tea and use it as a cool compress.

The best way to take care of a burn is to not get one in the first place. Unfortunately, even when you try to be careful, you can still end up with a burn. Be sure to have some of these ingredients on hand, just in case.
