This Mom Is Furious About How Santa Treated Her Special Needs Son
By Dreamer

Megan took her 14-month-old son, Caleb, to Bass Pro Shops in San Antonio, Texas and patiently waited in line to have their session with Santa. But you see, Caleb has mitochondrial encephalomyopathy (MELAS syndrome), a potentially life-threatening genetic disorder that has weakened his muscles and shrunk his brain. So he needed to be hooked up to a breathing apparatus, among other pieces of medical equipment.

When it was his turn, Megan quickly unhooked Caleb from the not-so-photogenic machines so he was ready for the photo. But instead of sitting down and posing, like he had with the kids before Caleb, Santa stood there awkwardly, took a quick picture, then rushed them out to move on to other children.
Megan couldn't believe the mistreatment, and posted about the experience (along with a super sweet photo of Caleb) on Facebook:

After her post, Megan says multiple families have reached out to share similar stories of mistreatment by Bass Pro Shops across the country. The company has since apologized and offered a gift card and photo with Santa, but Megan declined, writing on Facebook that she suggested the money instead be donated to charity (and perhaps work on sensitivity training for Santa).
And Caleb did end up getting his photo taken with Santa. According to Megan's Facebook, they visited Morgan's Wonderland, where they seemed to have a very positive experience with Santa and captured great family photos.
