A mother from Pennsylvania was at Walmart with her kids when she noticed a stranger approaching them. However, as the man grew closer she realized what he held in his hand.
The mother, Heather, had gone to her local Walmart in Meadville to grab a few things for her kids when quite the unexpected chain of events occurred. Once it was all said and done, she knew she needed to let the world know what happened and decided to post her story to the Love What Matters Facebook page – and now it’s going viral.
Heather explained that this past month was financially exhausting with several unexpected expenses, including hospital visits, medical problems, and even a break in. Regardless of her financial issues, it didn’t go unnoticed that her children were both in need of a booster seat for the car and some new clothes. Unfortunately, while she was at Walmart, she was devastated when she had to tell her children to pick between the two.
“We were standing by the girls’ section of clothes and I was talking to the kids and told them ‘I can either get the booster seats this week or some new clothes, but I can’t afford both and I’m sorry,” Heather explained. “But I promise next weekend I will get whatever else you need and want.”
The children didn’t seem bothered by her request and they both chose to get a new outfit. As they looked in the clothing section, they were uncomfortable when a strange man approached them. However, when Heather looked down to see what was in his hands, she freaked out.

“This guy named Matthew came up to us with both booster seats (the ones the kids had originally picked but had to put back because I couldn’t afford them) in a Walmart bag that he had just purchased for us because he overheard our conversation and he felt bad,” she recalled. “He told me that he heard the sadness in my voice when I told the kids I couldn’t afford both this week. And then he told me God bless and gave me a hug.”

Clearly, Matthew knew that this mother was doing her best, but finances simply weren’t where they needed to be. Thankfully, he stepped in to pay it forward and bought the two booster seats that the children needed.
Not only did this man prove that there is kindness in the world, but he unintentionally showed these two children what it means to help a stranger and how it feels to be that person in need.
