Pic Of Teen On Street Corner Goes Viral When People See What’s In The Road
By Timfly

A shop owner in Leesburg, Florida looked outside his store just in time to catch what his nephew was doing on the street corner near his front door. He immediately snapped a photo in shock of what he witnessed and posted it to social media where it instantly went viral when people saw what was in the street, directly in front of the teen.

Arek Trenholm, 16, and his little brother were enjoying the warm October weather on a day off from school while sitting outside their uncle Myron Leggett’s store in town. Having suffered from spina bifida since he was a baby, Arek is unable to walk or stand and was comfortably sitting in his wheelchair on the sidewalk next to his brother. Nothing seemed too remarkable about the afternoon until Myron saw what the handicapped teen did in an instant for one very specific reason that was in front of him.
According to Fox 13, the local high school was holding a homecoming parade that was marching down the street, which the boys were outside watching along with the other spectators. However, as soon as the junior ROTC came down the street, everyone began screaming at what Arek did on the street corner. It had been seven years since the teen stood on his own until this moment when he saw our flag and pushed himself up from his wheelchair to show respect by standing despite his inability to do so.

“Here come the junior ROTC, marching along and chanting, and I heard … ‘He’s standing!’ and I knew what he was standing for, in an instant,'” Leggett said with pride for his patriotic nephew. “I whipped around real quick with the camera and just started snapping pictures of him.”
Since Arek can’t stand on his two legs, he stood with his hands by holding his limp body up to the very best of his ability. Unlike countless others with “good” legs who kneel or sit for our national anthem, this boy with a disability did whatever he could to show respect and put the losers who don’t to shame.
“He’s making that effort, where so many … that have legs, that could stand, are sitting or kneeling,” said Leggett, “and not using their ‘well legs’ to stand and respect those who have fought and died for our flag and for our country,” Myron wrote in his now viral post with the photo he took of the incredible moment.
There is no excuse not to stand other than to prove you don’t appreciate the people who died for our freedom and the flag. Those who sit are spitting on soldiers’ graves and take our country for granted. They should be forced to leave the U.S. and live in a place where they can gain new appreciation and respect for what brave men and women fought to defend here.
