Elderly Woman Who Didn't Have Enough Money For Groceries Is Shocked By Clerk's Reaction

Gary Clark ran to his local Marsh grocery store in Indiana to get some ground beef that he needed for dinner that night. He set the meat down on the conveyor belt to check out when he looked up in shock at what the clerk was doing in front of him.
Before leaving the store that afternoon a different man than when he went in, Clark snapped a picture of what he witnessed. He immediately posted the photo of the employee, who he learned is named Janell, and with a description of what went down in the line on that otherwise normal day, his post instantly went viral.
According to his post on social media, Clark was second in line behind an elderly woman who had a modest amount of groceries that Janell was ringing up. After her final item was scanned and she was given her total, the woman realized she didn’t have enough money on her or in her account to cover her grocery bill. The struggling customer had a look of shame on her face as she explained that she needed to take several items out of her bag since she was short of cash.
“This girl is a cashier at Marsh on Kentucky Ave, her name is Janell. An elderly woman came through her line, did not have enough money. This young lady took money out of her own pocket and paid half of her bill. Please share and let everyone know our youth is not a lost cause. I was proud to witnessed it. Marsh should be proud to have her as an employee,” the Facebook post said.
Letting the woman know that there is nothing to worry about, Janell reached into her own pocket and pulled out some cash. “You come through my line all the time, and I want to help,” Clark heard the cashier say to the elderly woman as she paid for half of the customer’s groceries that she wasn’t able to afford. The appreciative woman kept saying she didn’t need to do that for her, but Janell said she wanted to do it and told the woman, “I had a good week,” Fox 59 reported.
Clark was moved by this woman paying her good fortune forward when he shared it online, touching the hearts of over 26,000 people who have shared it since last Thursday. It goes to prove that people crave kindness today, in a time that’s filled with so much hate and divisiveness. Janell doesn’t have much, but when she got a little extra she gave it away to someone who had less than her and changed the course of a woman’s week in a matter of seconds.
