Woman Sees Burger King Worker Approach Old White Man, Snaps Picture Immediately

A woman and her mother were out to eat at a local Burger King in Missouri when the unexpected caught them off guard. As the two enjoyed their meal, they watched as one of the fast-food joint’s workers came out from behind the counter and approached an elderly white customer, which caused her to urgently snap a picture of what she saw, and it’s a good thing she did.
Tina Readus said that she was at the Cape Girardeau Burger King last week with her mother when the saw an employee come out from behind the counter and approach an elderly man sitting by himself, reported KFVS12. The following chain of events would end up bringing her to tears as she took a picture, which she later posted to her Facebook page to tell others.
However, this wasn’t a malicious interaction between the employee, who was identified as Divante Nicholson, and the older man, who is a 94-year-old WWII veteran named Kenneth Hass. Instead it was a moment she wanted to immortalize with a picture, and spread around to show everyone that there’s still younger people out there who were raised right by good parents.
When Nicholson approached Haas, he initially had his hand extended, to which Haas offered up a coupon he had with him, but that’s not what the restaurant worker wanted. What he asked for instead left Readus stunned.
“Oh no, I just want to shake your hand and thank you for your service and for my freedom in our beautiful country,” Nicholas said, she recalled in her post. Readus then explained that Nicholas told them about his own family’s involvement with the military, and that he too plans to join the Armed Services.
“Divante continued to say that his dad was military and he plans to go into the Air Force after graduating,” the post continued. “So this is just a shout out to these two wonderful men that I had the pleasure of meeting just by chance at BK.”
Readus said that Haas gave her a “hug and a kiss” on her cheek, and she called Nicholas a “respectable young man.”
“Thank you both for being the great man and young man that you are,” she concluded.
While it may not seem like much, it’s great to see that there are still respectable young men out there, who realize why we have the freedoms we have. Kudos to Nicholas for going out of his way to thank a veteran, and I want to personally thank Mr. Haas for proudly serving our nation.
Here’s two generations of men that both come from different backgrounds, yet they both believe in our country and the freedoms she provides. If that’s not a feel-good story, I’m not entirely sure what is.
