Veteran Walks In Pet Store, Reduced To Tears After What Employee Said To Him
By Timfly

After an extended stay in the hospital, a veteran went to pick up his dogs, but things didn’t go as expected. An employee of the business had a few words for the man, leaving him in tears – and it was all caught on video.
The incident took place in Newark, Delaware, when James Pack was admitted to the hospital and spent a whopping three months there after suffering a major heart attack. Unfortunately, he lived all alone with his two dogs, Bailey and Blaze, who were eventually sent to the First State Animal Shelter and SPCA in Camden, Delaware, since they had nowhere else to go.

Fortunately, when he got out of the hospital after 90 long days, he was a bit more than delighted to learn that the two Labrador-pit bull mixes hadn’t been adopted, and he immediately went down to pick them up. He went down and briefly visited the dogs at an SPCA shelter inside of a local PetSmart.
“The dogs couldn’t contain their excitement,” Lindsay Carrothers, an adoption counselor at the shelter, explained. “They greeted him with massive kisses and wagging tails.”

Unfortunately, as they’d been officially adopted by the shelter, James would have to pay $210 to re-adopt his own dogs. As it turns out, the veteran was so set on getting his dogs that he even said he may sell his car to get them back, but he would later learn that it wouldn’t be necessary.
When Pack returned to the SPCA location, he said that he would need more time to get the money. However, he was stunned and overjoyed when shelter employees informed him that an SPCA volunteer, Chris Malec, had paid his adoption fee after it was reduced to $125. The dogs were now Pack’s to take home.
The good fortune for this vet and his furry friends didn’t end there. Other volunteers “pitched in with donations of dog food, toys, personalized treats and gift cards.” As just about anyone would, James broke down into tears as a result of the kind gesture and the pure joy he felt knowing his dogs were coming home with him.
Luckily, everything worked out, with both James and his two dogs extremely happy to be home – they even got to sleep in bed with him the night they came home.
With veterans sacrificing everything to serve their countries, these are the men and women that deserve the utmost respect. Unfortunately, they’re not always treated that way. However, in the case of James here, well, I’d say this man was treated exactly as he should be. Beyond that, Christmas is a time for giving and those volunteers went above and beyond to carry out just that sentiment. As a result, millions around the nation have been inspired, and it just doesn’t get much better than that.
